A Conversation About the Journey: Susan Gravely on Side by Side with Nido Qubein

There are certain conversations that give you the chance to pause and reflect—not just on where you are, but on everything that brought you there.

I recently had the pleasure of sitting down with Dr. Nido Qubein for Side by Side, PBS North Carolina’s series featuring conversations with accomplished leaders about their lives, work and the experiences that have shaped them.

Dr. Qubein, president of High Point University and host of Side by Side, has a wonderful way of drawing out the stories behind a person’s work. Our conversation gave me the opportunity to reflect on the journey behind VIETRI—from a life-changing trip to Italy to building a company rooted in Italian artistry, craftsmanship and the joy of gathering around beautiful things.

We talked about VIETRI, my enduring love of Italy, entrepreneurship, resilience, mentorship and some of the experiences that have shaped my life along the way.

This special conversation will premiere on Tuesday, October 6 at 7 PM, on PBS North Carolina.
